When it comes to cellar door experiences, there’s a particular mould that most cellar doors in Australia try to emulate – the bar, the polished concrete floor, designer mood lighting and more wines than you can poke a decanter at. At Glenguin, we’ve deliberately tried to shift the cellar door experience away from a quasi-retail space and into something far more personal and intimate.

We like to think that we provide one of the more unique wine tasting experiences available in the Hunter Valley. But what makes us so unique?

Firstly, we don’t have a bar. Our tastings are held sitting at our centre table – a single piece of Western Australian Jarrah, with hand-crafted chairs, looking out over the Schoolhouse Block and further to the Wollombi Brook.

We want you to experience our wines in a setting that is more like how you would be experiencing them away from the cellar door. We provide a more homely environment for that exact purpose.

We also make sure that the people you’re talking to are passionate, dedicated, and know the wines and the vineyard inside and out. Phil, our cellar door manager, not only runs the cellar door but also lives on the property with his young family and manages the entire estate, including the vineyard, during much of the year. Phil is living and breathing Glenguin Estate, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a more dedicated and passionate person to take you on your Glenguin journey.

But the tasting is not just about Glenguin but also about the taster – you! We invite and encourage discussion about what you like, what you don’t like; any questions you may have around our history, viticultural practices or winemaking. You’ll find the walls adorned with items from Glenguin’s, and indeed the Tedder family’s, history; as well as maps and posters from other parts of the world that we have an affection for.

For the comfort of our guests, we provide simple extra services – whether that be something as straight foward as free Wi-Fi, free Tesla vehicle charging via two three-phase charging stations or something more intimate like our Winter Fireside Chats in July, we are always looking for ways to improve and expand our offerings; to make the experience even more special and unique.

Finally, our cellar door tastings are complimentary and we don’t charge to taste our premium wines. You can book a private, VIP tasting, which include back-vintage and rare wines. These private tastings attract a small per head cost to cover our costs of opening wines that are not available for purchase. Should you wish to book one of these tastings, please contact the cellar door. Past examples of wines that have been opened at these tastings include the 1996 Semillon (our first vintage) and 2007 Schoolhouse Block Shiraz.

We’d love for you to experience Glenguin Estate first-hand. We’re located just outside the quaint village of Broke, about a 15 minute drive from the Hunter Valley’s main centre of Pokolbin. Turn off Milbrodale Road, drive down the driveway and follow the signs to the ‘hidden’ door under the porte-cochère and Experience Glenguin. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Small groups of up to 10 can be accommodated, but please email cellardoor@glenguinestate.com.au to confirm availability beforehand. Alternatively, call the cellar door on (02) 6579 1009.
