2013 saw the final vintage from our project Tannat block.
We’re down to our last cases and as a way of saying thank you to our loyal wine club members, mailing list subscribers, and customers we’re making these available at a very special case rate.
Tannat is an ancient grape that originates from the Madiran region in the south-west of France, close to Spanish border, with possibly the most significant plantings globally in Uruguay. A true alternative variety in the Australian wine landscape – we know of only three other producers in New South Wales producing a varietal Tannat.
A wine that really comes into its own when enjoyed with food, our Tannat is punctuated with flavours of balsamic, hints of aniseed and a depth to the tannins that gives the wine greater complexity and more complete mouthfeel. With that structure comes a strong ability to age and this wine will continue to develop in bottle over the next 5 to 10 years.
The 2013 Ironbark Tannat is a great wine to close this chapter of Glenguin’s history as we sharpen our focus on the classic Hunter Valley varieties – Semillon and Shiraz.
