2021 Halliday Wine Companion

By August 12, 2020 Uncategorized

In the latest Wine Companion Glenguin received 95 points for both the 2018 Aristea Shiraz and the 2019 Semillon. Ned Goodwin MW described 2018 Aristea as having “Density and compelling venosity, texturally compelling with red and black plum, a waft of Asian exotica, a gentle twist of the pepper grinder and welcome oak pillars for direction. This will age sumptuously.” Of 2019 Glenguin Vineyard Semillon “This is very good. Scintillating intensity of flavour with palpably natural acidity. nothing too tangy. Nothing out of place. Lemon oil, grapefruit pulp and dried tatami. Lovely stuff and on the softer side, but all the better for it.”

With no wine being made after the disastrous bushfires and smoke taint of vintage 2020 I am very pleased to have this wonderful semillon to release. The 2018 Aristea needs time but I hope to be able to release it to the Friends of Glenguin in the not too distant future.

In the meantime we have the very last 25 cases of the now mature 2009 Aristea Shiraz to release soon.
